4 Then said the Lord unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no. 5And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth day they shall prepare that which they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.
This is a great eye opener of the Lord’s blessings. His word declares “His blessings makes us rich and add no sorrow” Proverbs 10:22.
Here, I see the Lord telling His children openly, the blessings He is just about to give them is for testing them, whether they will walk in His laws or not. Are they going to pass the test? The instructions were, the bread (blessing) am giving to you, am capable of doing it daily! I want you to trust me that I can give you enough daily. This is the test- Don’t collect more than one day’s supply. If you do it, that supply will be bad by the following day. Why? Because there I will keep my promise and will be fresh supply for you. I don’t want you to eat left-overs. I have fresh bread for you.
These precious people did not hear well from the Lord. They tried to collect more than they can eat! They did exactly opposite. On the sixth day, they were promised that whatever they collect will be preserved to eat on Sabbath day. And surely that’s what God did.
How many times do we try to heap up what God is telling us he is capable of supplying daily? On the contrary, when we are supposed to feed what was left, preserved by God, we want to go to work and get more! The Lord was teaching me sometimes when we do things according to our reasoning, we miss His blessings. We live like we know how to make money so much. We live like God can not provide daily for our needs.
In our prayers, we need to trust and believe God is well able to provide for us. Collect when he wants you to (work) and rest to worship Him when he wants you to. TRUST God for all of your needs and He will never let you down.
